the sustainabilityimperative
The future of real estate investment

Campaign Overview
Man Bites Dog was challenged to position BCLP as the number one go-to law firm for global real estate – a holistic firm, capable of doing every part of the deal. BCLP knew they were often considered by their clients as the first choice for real estate transactions for specific asset types or locations, but that clients had a limited awareness of their ability to advise across the full lifecycle, across all jurisdictions and across all asset classes.
The Man Bites Dog team identified an opportunity in the growing demand for greener commercial properties – and incoming regulation around sustainable real estate. Drawing on the perspectives of both investors and corporate occupiers, we would position BCLP as a thought leader in real estate investment and the macro forces shaping the market, showing the huge financial and reputational impact that sustainability demands would have on property portfolios.

Impact
The Sustainability Imperative – based on global opinion research amongst corporate occupiers and real estate investors and insights from a panel of experts – uncovered attitudes and barriers to greener commercial real estate. Crucially, it generated a rallying cry for investors to increase the sustainability of their portfolios, revealing that on average, $442 million of investments per firm are at risk of being unsaleable due to failure to meet sustainability criteria.
The creative suite of activations brought to life the idea, with a strong and clear story running through the content. This allowed the assets to be used as stand-alone pieces, increasing the longevity of the campaign.
